

Back in the 1930s, three brothers: Paul, Charlie, and my great-grandfather John Molay set out to establish themselves as wholesale grocers in the Birmingham area. After years of dedication, they put themselves on the map as a top supplier for many Birmingham restaurants at the time, calling the store Molay Bros.
Meanwhile, John’s wife, Ida Mae Farnetti began fusing her love of Soul Food with her husband John’s Sicilian love for Italian cuisine. Her dishes of classic lasagna to braised meats served with her famous BBQ sauce carried their way through generations up to now.
My grandmother, Carol Molay Burke taught me the true meaning of dining culture, as was taught to her by her family. Now, we are carrying on the name of the Molay Brothers while incorporating the Farnetti’s Italian Soul Food cuisine.

It all began on Morris Avenue in the heart of Downtown Birmingham, Alabama. There, the Molay Bros. name was established, carrying grocery supplies and appliances for the Birmingham region’s restaurants, homes, and businesses.
We now carry on the Molay Bros. name by using the highest quality ingredients to cook stellar Italian Soul Food. From our rich, creamy, and smoky Short Rib Lasagna, to our moist and tender Olive Oil Cake, we are here to cater to your every need.
Today
As a student at Auburn University’s School of Hospitality Management and hospitality industry enthusiast, I aim to provide the highest quality of food and service while maintaining authenticity and connection to my past. We now operate this business throughout the city of Birmingham to keep the Molay Bros. name alive, while also connecting the city to the rich history of Italian Americans.
